Macquarie Downs has a licensed feedlot capacity of 4920 standard cattle units (scu). Ongoing expansion is taking place with 6 existing pens, with a combined pen capacity of 744 scu, now completed. 

A second stage, with the same capacity is planned for the near future. These pens are designed to meet the latest environmental guidelines. Macquarie Downs boasts an undercover feedlot of 600m2 in 5 pens, currently used to feed Fullblood Wagyu.

Landscaping of this facility is ongoing with a tree-planting program in place.

Custom feeding is a vital key to the production of high quality Wagyu cattle. Macquarie Downs has access to clean quality feed through its farming operations. 

Macquarie Downs has 3000 tonnes of grain storage and the ability to store 5500 tonnes of corn silage and 2000 large bales of hay undercover. Having its own milling facilities, cattle feed is processed on site to ensure quality fresh feed is produced. All production chains are closely monitored by independently audited quality assurance programs.

Water is sourced for the feedlot via the sub-artesian basin, which is an excellent source of water.

Animal welfare and well-being is paramount, and it is monitored daily by our stockmen to ensure weight gain progression and general well being.
